Blasters and Gear Info
Blasters:
The vast majority of players use 3D printed, modified, or higher power blasters. That being said you are more than welcome to use lower powered and silly blasters, which often times can be more fun!
If you’re interest in joining us and don’t have any suitable blasters, many folk are happy to lend out a blaster or two, and we are working on club loaner blasters! To make sure there will be blasters you can borrow at a game just send a message in our Discord Server
FPS limits
To keep things balanced and fun we do impose FPS limits on blasters. We have a chronograph at all game which can be used to measure the velocity of your blaster to ensure it is within the limits. Any blaster we haven’t seen before that is obviously high performance or feels like it’s hitting a bit hard must be checked.
FPS limits depend on the type of blaster, and are:
- Spring powered blasters: 200fps
- Semi-auto blasters: 170fps
- Full auto blasters: 150fps
Ammo:
CFFC provides Half Length Darts and Rival rounds, with the majority of players using half length darts
You are more than welcome to use other ammo types such as Mega, Mega-XL, Full Length Darts, or Vortex discs. However you’ll have to provide your own ammo, and acknowledge that it may be handled by others, damaged, or lost
Safety
Eye Protection:
Full coverage and safety rated eye-protection is required in order to participate. This can be found at many stores such as Home Depot, Rona, or Princess Auto for approx. $5-10. Our club also offers safety goggles to purchase at $5/pair, we don’t offer them out for lend, due to sanitary reasons
Standard prescription glasses do not provide adequate protection as the sides are open and the glass is not intended to handle high velocity impacts. Safety glasses which fit over prescription glasses can be easily found, and unlike googles do not cause your glasses to fog up. If you’re feeling fancy, prescription safety glasses can also be found at reasonable prices
Other Notable Info
Footwear:
The only “rule” about footwear is we ask that you bring a pair of shoes to change into if we’re playing inside and it’s wet, snowy, or muddy out
Shoes suitable for running are strongly recommended, but not required
Snacks and Hydration:
Bring lots of water!! You will end up exerting yourself a lot more than you’d expect, and many places we play don’t have water available.
Snacks are also a very good thing to have on hand, toss a couple protein bars in your bag. We ask that everyone is considerate of the venue and doesn’t leave behind any crumbs or garbage
